Poker O

Register at 1 pm
Start at 1:30 pm
What is Poker O, you ask? Here's the setup: There's a different card at each of a bunch of control locations. You have to visit the controls to see what cards are where. Your poker hand is determined by the 5 controls you choose to punch before time expires.
Gonzaga University's the place and John Harbuck's the man.

Weird O at Mirabeau

Register/start
1-3 pm
Don't come to Weird O for plain ol' straight-up orienteering. Somehow, someway, there's always some little twist at the first EWOC event in April every year. Enjoy April Fools Day with us at Mirabeau Point in Spokane Valley. Meet just north of the Valley YMCA building.  Tracy Schoenleber hosts.

Camp Sekani

Register/start

This is our club's newest map, created for a national competition last summer. No one's quite got this place committed to memory so we're all in the same boat.  Come give it a try. John Beck will design the course.

Goat and Kid at Fishtrap

Register/start
1-3 pm
Our designer, John Harbuck, knows the Fishtrap map very well. You'll know it a little better too after doing one of these longer-than-usual courses. If you've only seen this area from the highway at 70 mph, it's time to pull over and take a look around.

Lincoln Park

Register/start
10-noon
The annual Lincoln Park event in the Spring is a great time to see a variety of wildflowers. This is an interesting place — combining a grassy city park with treed areas, tall cliffs, basalt scabland, and a large pond — all hidden away on Spokane's South Hill.

Experience Riverside State Park

9 am - 3 pm
The Riverside State Park Foundation will be hosting various activities around the park from 9-3. EWOC will be there to offer visitors a little bit of instruction and a chance to do a beginners course for free. Let us know ahead of time if you would like to help us provide that opportunity. On the day of the event you'll find us under the shelter, at the far end of the footbridge near the bowl and pitcher.

Sunday

Riverside Club Event

1 - 3:30 pm
Come to Riverside for the Park Foundation events (see above) in the morning, and compete on our full courses in the afternoon. From 1-3 we'll have intermediate and advanced courses for anyone interested in the real deal. (Our regular fees apply for these.)

Business Meeting and Motala

Meeting at 10 am
Motala at 11 am
We'll meet in Jepson Hall at Gonzaga University for less than an hour to talk over ideas, rough-out the 2013 schedule, and elect new oficers. Attending is the best way to avoid getting elected. At about 11:00 we'll go do a mass-start motala event. A motala is a fun way to make the most of a rather small map area — like Gonzaga University's campus — by designing the course that goes in loops. Come give it a try.
